Nintendo released the Famicom in Japan on July 15, 1983, and the Nintendo Entertainment
System in North America on October 18, 1985. It saved the video game industry after the
crash of 1983 and established Nintendo as the dominant force in gaming.
Key milestones: Donkey Kong (1981), Super Mario Bros. (1985), The Legend of Zelda (1986),
Metroid (1986), Mega Man (1987), Contra (1987), Tetris (1984), and hundreds more.
🎵 KOJI KONDO — THE MAESTRO
Koji Kondo composed the iconic music for Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda,
and many other Nintendo classics using the NES's 5-channel audio chip (2A03).
His Super Mario Bros. theme is the most recognized piece of video game music in
history, recognized by over 97% of Americans in surveys. The underwater theme,
castle theme, and underground theme are equally legendary.

WARP ZONES: In World 1-2, run on top of the exit pipe area ceiling to reach the warp zone for Worlds 2, 3, or 4.
INFINITE LIVES: In 3-1, find the two Goombas near the staircase and bounce on them repeatedly with the correct timing for 1-up stacks.
MINUS WORLD: In 1-2, jump through the wall to the left of the warp zone pipe for World -1 (an infinite underwater level).
